Every Body Dances

Promote movement as a fundamental form of creative expression and enrich community through dance appreciation, creation, and education.

  • to be a central body uniting the existing dance communities in the Pikes Peak Region
  • to act as a point of connection for national and international artists to bring their work to the Pikes Peak Region
  • to advance local creation of new work that contributes to the national and international landscape in a meaningful way
  • to bring the health and wellbeing benefits of dance to people in all walks of life.

Inclusion and equal treatment of all members of the community are core values of the Dance Alliance and central to our mission. DAPPR is committed to diversity in every aspect of its programming and services. Diversity in this context refers to aesthetics, groups, communities, and individuals identified by race, ethnicity, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, religion, age, or disability status. DAPPR is committed to honoring, nurturing, and advancing dance through the lens of diversity, inclusion, and equal opportunity in all aspects of its programming, services, and organization. Inclusion means a commitment to making all members of the community feel welcome and comfortable.

The Dance Alliance is committed to building a respectful and open community. Our aim is to foster spaces where all members of our community feel welcome and comfortable. As such, negative and inappropriate behaviors are not tolerated, including: verbal abuse, hate speech, physical assault, disrespect, intimidation, or other forms of misconduct.

We reserve the right to refuse service and/or to restrict access to any visitor whose presence or participation jeopardizes the welcoming and inclusive culture we are working to establish, or detracts from the safety, welfare, and wellbeing of other patrons or staff.

The Dance Alliance of the Pikes Peak Region is the newest evolution of Colorado Springs Dance Theatre, a grass-roots 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that has promoted dance in the Pikes Peak Region since 1977. Founded over forty-five years ago by Barbara Kline and a dedicated group of volunteers, Colorado Springs Dance Theatre was a leading presenting organization that showcased professional, world-class dance to the Pikes Peak region, exposing local communities to internationally renowned dance. Now in its 5th decade of community service, The Dance Alliance has hosted over 100 of the world’s pre-eminent dance companies including Dance Theatre of Harlem, Paul Taylor Company, Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, and the Martha Graham Dance Company. More recent seasons have included sold-out shows by Keigwin + Company and Ailey II. Additionally, The Dance Alliance has granted over $50,000 in tuition aid to dance students in the Pike Peak Region through our long established Esther Geoffrey Scholarship Competition.

Continuing in our 47-year tradition of bringing world class performances to our community, we are working on some exciting events for our 2024-25 season. Sign up for our newsletter and keep an eye on our social media platforms for announcements of upcoming presentations.

In addition to our tradition of presenting touring dance performances to our community, The Dance Alliance is expanding our scope to include commissioning work to be created right here at home. We have launched an artist-in-residence program to enable the talented guests we bring to Colorado Springs to engage further in our community and create world-class premiere works that our supporters will be the very first to see.

We are committed to the idea that movement and dance are for Every Body and dance can bring enrichment to people in every walk of life. We have partnered with local school districts to create programs getting kids moving and expanding their knowledge of the arts. We are committed to making dance and the arts accessible to all people in our community through scholarships, discounted tickets, & free programming.
